Shri. Anurag Singh, IFS
Shri. Anurag Singh is a distinguished Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer
from 1998 batch currently serving in Assam cadre.
▪ Currently, he holds the position of Additional Principal Chief
Conservator of Forests (Planning and Development). In this role, he
oversees strategic planning and development initiatives within the
forest department.
▪ In addition to his primary responsibilities, he is also the Project
Director for the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity
Conservation Society (Phase II), co-funded by the Agence Française
de Développement (AFD) and the Government of Assam to pave a
way for conserving forests and the state’s biodiversity while
improving the livelihood of the forest-dependent communities.
▪ He also serves as the Member Secretary for the Assam State
Biodiversity Board. This position emphasizes his involvement in
broader biodiversity management efforts beyond traditional forestry.
▪ He also worked in different sectors especially in Urban Development,
and Tourism in the State. He is experienced in restoration of water
reservoirs, urban flood management, town planning, tourism and
especially ecotourism in the state. He has made significant
contribution to uplift tourism potential in the State.
▪ Throughout his carrier, Shri Singh has been involved in numerous
initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and community
engagement in forest conservation. He is recognised for his
commitment to integrating modern technology in forest management
practices, ensuring that conservation efforts are both effective and
sustainable.
▪ His leadership has been instrumental in implementing effective
strategies to combat poaching and enhance habitat connectivity for
wildlife.
▪ He has made significant contribution to forest management and
conservation in the state of Assam.
