Activities under Collaborative Biodiversity Management are:
- Training on roles and responsibilities of Biodiversity Management Committee, People's Biodiversity Register, Biodiversity Act 2002, Biodiversity Management Plan imparted to all 50 BMCs (100% of the target).
- Six Training-cum-Awareness Modules for BMCs prepared.
- Digital app developed for collecting data regarding Peoples Biodiversity Register.
- Bio-resource assessment and ABS potential assessment of 50 BMCs completed, and report submitted.
- 50 Peoples Biodiversity Registers (PBR)s updated.
- 50 Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP)s completed.
- Updated ABS Guidelines for Assam and SOPs for high value bioresources completed.
- 19 district-level workshops on importance of biodiversity management committees and PBRs conducted.
- State level awareness workshop on BD Act (2002), PBR and BMP completed at Guwahati with 50 BMC representatives and other stakeholders.
- Four Case Studies on ABS and a Draft Mutually Agreed Terms (MAT) prepared.
Implementation of Biodiversity Management Plans (ongoing)
(a) 50 completed Biodiversity Management Plans of the lighthouse BMCs include proposed activities and interventions to address key area-specific threats.
(b) 30 BMPs (Out of 50) were prioritized for implementation of selected activities under APFBC II.
(c) Expert agencies and implementation partners have been engaged and on-boarded by ASBB for implementation of BMP activities.
(d) Ongoing BMP activities include documentation of biodiversity and traditional knowledge in High Conservation Value Areas, training on sustainable livelihood enhancement options (including vermicompost making/ hospitality/ handicraft making/ apiculture/ mushroom cultivation.
(e) Awareness on snakebite management is ongoing with selected BMCs.
(f) Training for BMC Member Secretaries and other forest personnel on BD Act, ABS is scheduled (last week of November) at the Forest Training School, Jalukbari and Makum
(g) On-ground strengthening and support of selected BMCs, including establishment of seedbanks would be directly implemented by the ASBB through the concerned BMCs.

Assam Snake Symposium 2025
Assam’s first-ever Assam Snake Symposium was organized by the Assam State Biodiversity Board, Help Earth & Madras Crocodile Bank Trust, supported by APFBC II, at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati on 30 July 2025.
The symposium brought together 80+ snake rescuers, experts, researchers & policymakers. The workshop was chaired by Hon’ble Forest Minister Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, who announced a State-Level Steering Committee on Snakebite Mitigation & proposed a state-of-the-art serpentorium. Senior officers from the forest department.
