WHAT IS APFBCS

  • Welcome to APFBCS

The Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Society (APFBC Society), was created by State Government of Assam as a

Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Society has the mandate for planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and management of all the activities proposed under the project.

  • Our Vision

The overall vision of the project is to

“contribute through the Forest Department towards the conservation of nature for healthier ecosystems and happier communities”.

  • Our Strategy

The Environment & Forest Department, Assam, recognizes the fact that sustainable forest management demands ‘coming and

working together’ of forest dependent communities and other stakeholders to bridge the gap between the project and communities, therefore the project has active participation of all stakeholders.

  • Our Activities

The project envisages implementing activities ranging from capacity building of forest department personnel, rehabilitation of

Forest Department’s infrastructure and equipment to income generation and livelihood security of forest dependent communities. The Society came in existence on 28 June 2012 with two main agenda.
